Director of Procurement

Company Overview: We are recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturer of Plastic Films & Flexible Packaging, based in Canada.

Role Overview: As Director of Procurement, you will be responsible for the purchasing and sourcing activities of our manufacturing facilities, holding both group and local Level responsibilities. The key focus of this role will be on the procurement of resins and polymers across North America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Procurement; performing continuous market analysis and supporting the Group Chief Procurement Officer in implementing and presenting new sourcing/procurement strategies.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management; handling contract negotiations, identifying ideal suppliers and conducting research on quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Operational Procurement; managing the purchasing process, including buying, selling, and distribution aspects of the company per guidance from the central procurement team.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration; managing a team of material coordinators and buyers while working hand-in-hand with Research and Development to prioritize allocation between suppliers.
  • Forecasting and Analysis; analyzing current and future raw material levels and finished goods inventory levels to plan production schedules for 2-3 weeks out.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in science or similar field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing.
  • Over 5 years of managing commodity sourcing in an industrial company.
