Mackenzie Stuart is currently partnered with a market-leading dietary supplement contract manufacturer in Canada, seeking a Vice President of Manufacturing to oversee and optimize all aspects of manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of expertise in manufacturing, leadership, and operational excellence, with a track record in the dietary supplement or related industries. Responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
- Operational Leadership: Lead all manufacturing activities, ensuring high standards of efficiency, quality, and compliance. Establish performance goals, streamline production workflows, and oversee resource allocation to meet business objectives.
- Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production, quality, and supply chain functions. Implement lean manufacturing principles and other process enhancements to maximize productivity and reduce costs.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and develop a high-performing manufacturing team, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and quality. Ensure effective communication and collaboration across teams, including quality, R&D, and supply chain.
- Quality & Compliance: Maintain stringent quality control and compliance standards to meet industry regulations, including cGMP, Health Canada, and international requirements. Oversee audits and ensure adherence to all regulatory standards.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive manufacturing strategy aligned with company growth objectives. Identify and prioritize investment opportunities, including facility upgrades, technology implementations, and capacity expansions.
- Supply Chain Management: Collaborate closely with supply chain teams to optimize raw material sourcing, inventory management, and production scheduling, ensuring efficient workflow and minimal disruptions.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Drive sustainable manufacturing practices, focusing on waste reduction, energy efficiency, and environmentally conscious production methods.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with executive leadership, R&D, and sales teams to ensure seamless product development and manufacturing processes. Provide strategic insights and guidance on production feasibility for new product launches.
- Budget & Financial Oversight: Manage the manufacturing budget, monitor cost performance, and identify opportunities for cost savings. Prepare financial forecasts and reports for executive management.
To be considered for the role, the following education, experience, and qualifications are required:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the dietary supplement, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing industry.
- In-depth knowledge of cGMP, Health Canada regulations, and other industry standards.
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale manufacturing operations, including managing complex production processes, quality control, and compliance initiatives.
- Experience in implementing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and inspire high-performance teams.
- Financial acumen and experience managing manufacturing budgets and P&L.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with executive leadership, customers, and suppliers.
